Cross Train with DEFINE

Stronger Race Day Performance • Injury Prevention • Faster Recovery

My name is Dario, you’ll see me around DEFINE: Houston pretty often the next 28 weeks as their team helps me build the necessary strength & flexibility to successfully complete the 15th edition of the Gobi March uninjured: a 155 mile long self-supported ultramarathon that takes place over six stages / 7 days in the Mongolian territory of the Gobi Desert.

I am excited to have Define support both my training program & fundraising efforts for CDF. Please consider donating & feel free to ask about sharks or the benefits of the body & mind programs for endurance athletes, or at least say hi! I always make a point of waving or nodding hello when I can.

Ready to Gobi

Ready to Gobi

Going to the doctor & getting medical proof that my body is apt to do this race definitely helps, it’s all mental from now on. I managed to stay injury free through the toughest part of training, too! Thanks Define!

The Meltdown

The Meltdown

They’re part of the process. You don’t need to fight them, or worry about your wellbeing. Meltdowns-while-training are needed, so you can build the mental toughness required for your race. This is something I learned from my coaches when I trained for my Ironman. A...

Ball-rolling 101

Ball-rolling 101

The DEFINE MIND classes are teaching me a ton I didn't previously know I could do to prevent injuries. One of the instructors got me to stretch my quads like this: ..and it didn't feel as uncomfortable as it may seem. The biggest surprise was when we ball-rolled not...

20 weeks and counting…

20 weeks and counting…

Time flies. I can't believe I have been training for the Gobi March for 10 weeks already. Here's an actual photo of myself as I type this: This next training phase moves my Define days to Tuesdays and Fridays, as I add another day of running to my week. However, I'm...

Instructions for Donations!

Instructions for Donations!

For the moment, I want to ask donors to put “GOBI SHARK” in the "In honor of" field of the donation page; that way, for the meantime, we can isolate the funds coming in. This will allow me to share with the Define community the progress of the fundraiser until race...

The Cause

The Cause

Someone asked me after rev about the race and why I was doing it, so I decided to summarize here a few reasons why I decided to raise funds for the Charles Darwin Foundation's (CDF) shark research and conservation efforts in the Galapagos: ? They have an educational...

The Greenbelt

The Greenbelt

I was in Austin for a concert over the weekend & decided to go do my 2.5 hr long run at the Greenbelt, I even wore my backpack for the first time. A reminder that I need to get out of my comfort zone: running on flat trails and pavement makes it easy to mindlessly put...

Lemon by N.E.R.D. & Rihanna

When life gives you lemons in the form of an overnight freeze the day you need to go run outside, you opt for an indoor workout that will make you sweat just as much. DEFINE BOUNCE made up for the sprints I skipped that week.
